Hate the ad that I have to dismiss everytime I open epocrates. Today it froze and would not let me dismiss it bi had to uninstall and reinstall app to make it work again. I PAY for this subscription myself and a delay in referencing info I need is very frustrating.

Most of information accessible without subscription

So I wasn’t too sure about epocrates because I was more familiar with other resources like UpToDate. I appreciate the stream lined information that gets straight to the point. I don’t have time to read lengthy material when looking for specific topics. Epocrates is helping my first year as an FNP go smoothly.

Constantly updates, can’t use app while updating. Updates don’t “only take a minute”. Also there is no way to turn off notifications for news.

Make it so that every time I open the app it doesn’t slow me down by saying g it has to “update.” How in the world can it need to update multiple times in the same day?????

When I opened Epocrates, I was told my version was out of date, and that I needed to get an updated version. It then switched me to my App Store. When I tried to load the new version, I kept getting the same message as above, over and over again. Unable to get update.

charged me for 2 week “free” trial. if you have good clinical judgement then you will choose not to let them take your hard earned $.

In addition to the excellent book for reference during my training in Internal Medicine and my fellowship in gastroenterology, this ebook was an excellent resource in the investigation and manadgement in any of the other general specialties and subespecialties of another teme in general medicine specially when it was used in addition to MedPlus , where with both tools we obtained an up today information. Since I was a second year medical student , I knew Epocrates, and since then I continue to be a successful physician.

I love this! I am in PA school now and can see myself using this throughout my career. Very easy to navigate and has up-to-date information. Thank you!

The current version crashes all the time, which is less than ideal at the hospital

After a recent update there is a new advertisement that appears right up front and requires dismissal when opening the application after it has not been used for a while. This is intrusive and adds an extra step delaying my access to the information I need. Could this be changed to how it was before?

Please fix the glitch in the medication interaction check. When adding medications, they do not appear until you close out the app and reopen it. This is frustrating when trying to add multiple medications during patient visits.

When am opening the app it’s wants update and when I came to App Store there is no update i don’t know what’s the issue

I enjoy reading the medical news articles, but with the most recent update, the articles are no longer dated, so it’s more difficult to pick out the articles that you have not yet read. The news articles in the Notifications section are still many months old. We also need to be able to delete the news articles in this section after reading them, like we used to be able to do.

I have used this as my go-to drug reference since the late 1990s when I had it in a palm pilot! It’s grown so much and is super useful!

Newest update causes long freezing periods and hangs on searching. Not caused by internet connection.

I am a very long time user of epocrates. As a sleep specialist, I use this app nearly daily to look up medications and their particulars in order to judge their effects on sleep – wake. However, with the last few versions of the app, I have noticed an increasing number of hangs and outright crashes. Some days it works very well, and on other days is nearly unusable. This is unfortunate. Were it not for these problems, the app would get five stars from me.

I use epocrates daily for patient care. This app has been such a blessing for rapid, accurate dosing information that is very CLEAR and CONCISE. This app gets straight to the point and leaves out excessive fluff or distraction so you can keep up with a busy day. Very, very happy with their work!

The App Store only lets me download an older version of the app. But the epocrates app won’t let me run it (blocked by a screen forcing a newer version that I cannot get). So catch-22 in favor of wasting money on new tech. Edit: epocrates responded to my complaint by specifying that I have an older iPhone (consistent with my own original description), as though to shame me. Epocrates then told me to get a new iPhone. Apart from being unhelpful and elitist, I have zero interest in keeping up with the Joneses when my iPhone is working fine. And just to point out, epocrates is one of only a very few apps that are forcing phone upgrades on their app users (i.e. it’s epocrates choice to do so, and that choice is an outlier). 2nd edit: I just downloaded and tried some other replacement apps— Skyscape is stupendous, drugs.com is another good option.

Attempts to contact company did not resolve the issues as they did not respond. Very disappointing and expensive for an app that does not work

Not interested in picture quizzes, extraneous articles, etc. We all paid a significant amount of money for the subscription and are unable to edit the content we want to see. Stop forcing junk on us.

Switched to WorldDrugs. - epocrates locks up when their internal adds appear. You are bloating like a democrat controlled government with about the same end results. At least other apps still work like epocrates used to.

I have an older iPad running iOS 16.5.1(c), E-o rates no longer runs on this device. People who take care of their devices should not be penalized because we don’t feel the need to waste money on new devices.

Since the latest update last week, epocrates is inaccessible for iOS versions older that 16, that includes iPhones 7, 7 plus etc which can’t download higher OS. I don’t know if that was technically necessary, but definetely it is annoying, since my other medical apps still can be used and upgraded except for epocrates, which I was using since 2000 (on my palm pilot back then). Why should I decide on upgrading my phone only because of one app? So I won’t, and will switch to something else or Google searches. Thank you for your service over 24 years!

I am a surgeon and have used epocrates for many years. It has been a very useful app. I have been using it on my iPhone when at work or my iPad when at home. However in the last few months it has stopped working on my iPad. I have tried to update it multiple times but to no avail. It freezes up when it says the “update will only take a few minutes”. I have tried deleting the app and reinstalling it from the App Store several times; however, that has not worked either. And yes I am using the latest version iPadOS 17.5.1. Is this a bug in the newest versions of epocrates and will it be remedied?

Piss poor. If you have a problem with your app while seeing patients, your screwed. There is no immediate customer service, no phone number to call, or no active online tech support.

Since update 2 days ago I no longer have access to the app, yet I have subscription that does not expire until August. Seems shady to charge for something that is no longer compatible with older phones.

The recent update is unstable. It randomly closes itself or disappears from full screen mode.

I have to continue to enter drugs to check for interactions!!! I would expect a software with a reputation of epocrates would allow users to save multiple drug lists!!!

For the past few days I’ve had to sign in each time I use the act. Very time consuming. Please fix

This new version crashes so often it's practically useless

Epocrates this was a great app that was my go to all the time, however, since it was bought by Athena, it has become increasingly bloated, and the last few updates makes it really difficult to use. Since every time I have to open the app, I have to login and then that will be a wait “for one minute“ that will take more than one minute, especially when I am in outreach clinics and hence I started depending on other references

Excellent app. Even after retirement as a MD, I will keep this app and continue to use it. I wish all apps were so well done and up kept. RMO MD

Generally like the app for getting quick answers. However, what happened to the link to “Alternative” drugs. I.e. when you are looking at a specific drug, and want to see similar ones?

Great resource- it is my go to. It is organized clearly and concisely. Quickly tells you what you need to know. I have used it now for over 14 years. This latest update has some major bugs— it constantly is signing me out. Please fix quickly!!! The first time I have ever had issues with the app.

Can we get rid of notifications and CME’s. Some of us want to get to the drugs quickly and these pop up first before getting to the drugs. If there are 10 of each.. I’d have to get rid of each one of them before it becomes useful to me. Please have them on a separate category and get rid of your pop ups. Otherwise I use epocrates a bit and I like it.

Not working for non US

I was baker acted because of a drug interaction for about two months in 2023. The drugs I was prescribed do not show up as an interaction with this app. If you are a Dr. avoid this app.

I have been using this product for over 10 years at this point. When it first came out it was absolutely the best resource available for drug database. Later they greatly expanded the apps scope to be a pocket resource and still meaningfully improved product. For the last few years though, the product worsened with bloat and poor responsiveness (even on current hardware). I responded by dropping subscription and relying on just free version for drug database resources. However the current product has so much bloat (unwanted adds, sponsored articles you cannot disable, use bandwidth, and slow whole app)that it is almost unusable. Really disappointed to see a once great product become so poorly functional. I no longer recommend to students or residents that train with us.

The app used to work great but but it’s been crashing and freezes a lot lately. I have to completely turn off my phone to get it to start working again. Someone needs to look into it

I love this app. Love love love it. The Highlights and Basics, Tests, DDx, and Tx tabs under the Quick Reference sections of specific diseases—along with a pharmaceutical dictionary—are indispensable. I truly feel this app makes daily clinical practice easier, smoother, and safer for patients and providers. The ONLY gripe I have about this app is that the News pops up throughout the day, prompting me to click on Headlines before I search for what I need to know, and this is on the PAID version. You are supposed to be able to search for what you need to know from this obligatory News screen. And that would be fine. If it worked. But 9/10 it doesn’t, you can’t, and the app crashes/stalls. I’ve emailed twice about this through the app and received personalized replies, but I could tell they were meaningless…and the issue still hasn’t been resolved. The app is otherwise perfect and if it were a matter of resolving this “issue”/improving the functionality of the app or risk losing the functionality currently available, I would not risk it. That’s how much I value this app.

I have used Epocrates it for many years, more I used it more I like it. There has been some change in App, I loved the older version more May be I need to get use to changes. I find Drug drug interaction as very useful tool for doctors to help patient stay in safe zone. As so many patients are taking so many medications from multiple specialists. I wish the result could be put in stars or some digits to show generally risk is insignificant, mild , moderate, severe, dangerous. I enjoyed the spot diagnosis pic, it is learning with fun. Per the developer this is how they want to receive feedback. Great app really but recently when you open the app for the first time each day it is frozen likely doing an annoying update. Bottom line, if I open the app, I probably need to use it and really don’t have the 5-10 min to wait. Please use your own product and fix these nonsense glitches.

the breadth of data in epocrates is fabulous, and i use it on a regular basis. it is my go-to for pregnancy/breastfeeding risks, as MicroMedex essentially says "risk cannot be ruled out". that's hardly helpful - i can't rule out death by meteor impact, but the odds are pretty low. where epocrates falls down is on a few specific, but critical, areas. many times i've needed it, and am told that the app is updating clinical data. no clue how long that'll take. when i'm with a patient and need info, waiting an unclear amount of time is a problem. additionally there are times the UI becomes unresponsive. just a few minutes ago i needed to look something up on a specific insulin. i'm stuck at the news page - i can press the search bar but it won't bring up a cursor so i can't search. i could open articles but not search. repeatedly. after closing and relaunching the app and it still not working i went to another resource. the volume of data in this app is valuable to any clinician - but if i can't get to it, that data isn't helping, and when im in a room with a patient and the clock is ticking, valuable time is being lost. 3 stars.

What the heck happened to this very useful app? Are you guys doing too much for profit or what? Always frozen for the search engine but those useless articles open with an instant click. What the heck!!!

I feel the information as a paid subscriber is invaluable but lately I am having frequent issues of the app freezing and not being able to access info when I need it. If this is the future of the app I will use Medscape or UpToDate instead

I have been using epocrates for over 15 years. This is a wonderful tool for medication management and pharmacology. For basic labs the plus level is very useful to come to a differential. The calculators are easy to use. The cons are the app takes long to load. The original was far quicker and more user Friendly. They have an unnecessary splash page which delays care. If you need specialized labs this app may not have details on it

I’ve been using epocrates since the beginning when it was a 320kb file on palm pilot. Unfortunately, it’s become so bloated I rarely use it anymore. In recent years, the devs have added, what amounts to, nag-screens. Frequently, launching the app now requires you to get past screens of CME offerings, announcements or other annoyances. Nothing should insert itself between you and the info you’re looking for the moment you’re looking for it. All other info-nag should be under its own tab to be viewed when convenient. Otherwise it’s a bug…not a feature.

The most helpful app out there since MicroMedex went away. Love the subscription free and subscription models. Very helpful information!
